Northdocks and the Federal Office for Radiation Protection are revolutionizing the training of medical personnel in the cath lab. Using virtual reality, trainees are immersed in a realistic environment in which they can operate a virtual C-arm. In addition, the radiation exposure is simulated and displayed depending on the protective measures used.
The trainees can perform various procedures in a safe environment and practise using protective equipment. The radiation exposure is evaluated, which allows them to learn from mistakes and optimize their behavior in the real cath lab.
Northdocks and the Federal Office for Radiation Protection are thus improving the quality of training for medical personnel in the cath lab.
Developed with experts from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS)
Own radiological radiation simulation system based on real measured values (useful and scattered radiation)
Output of radiation exposure for patients and staff
Influence of protective equipment on radiation exposure
Interaction with equipment (e.g. fully interactive C-arm)
Validated with trainees from the School for Medical Technical Radiology Assistance, University Hospital Cologne - Lindenburg Academy
